How CoreWeave uses Akuity

CoreWeave uses Akuity to provision co-managed GitOps environments for customers. An automated bootstrap process sets up CKS clusters, Akuity Argo CD instances, authentication, and base configs within an hour. Customers collaborate in shared GitHub repos, while Akuity’s AppSets pattern ensures consistency across environments. With Insights Dashboards and an agent-based security model, CoreWeave gains visibility and auditability without exposing private networks.

The initial approach with open-source Argo CD required manual setup, often taking two to three days per customer. This slowed adoption and consumed valuable engineering resources.

The Solution

Automated onboarding

CoreWeave adopted Akuity’s enterprise GitOps platform, built by the creators of Argo CD and Kargo, to automate and scale its co-managed approach. Instead of standing up Argo manually, CoreWeave now uses a CI-driven bootstrap process built on Argo Workflows. This process provisions control planes, Argo CD instances, authentication layers, and base configurations from a single manifest. Within an hour, a complete GitOps environment is ready for customer collaboration.

Consistency across environments

Akuity’s AppSets pattern ensures every environment follows the same structure and best practices. Teams can replicate deployments across staging, production, or multiple clusters from a single configuration file. CoreWeave also developed an internal tool called the “synker” to centralize configuration data from customer repositories, improving visibility and speeding triage.

Security and accountability by design

With Akuity’s agent-based architecture and full audit trail, CoreWeave eliminated the need to expose public services or alter customer firewalls. Every action is logged, and audit notifications provide traceability — helping the team not only resolve issues quickly but also turn configuration mistakes into teachable moments.

Flexibility and operational visibility

Akuity supports multiple provisioning options, including REST API, Crossplane provider, and Terraform. This gives CoreWeave confidence it can adapt as infrastructure patterns evolve. For day-to-day operations, Insights Dashboards provide multi-cluster visibility and in-line inspection of applications and workloads. These capabilities reduce tool-switching and make troubleshooting faster and more consistent.
