Meet Kargo
The layer between CI and your clusters
Warehouse: Watches your Git repos, image registries, and chart repos. Produces Freight when something new appears.
Freight: An immutable, versioned set of artifacts that travels through your pipeline as a single unit.
Stage: A target in your delivery flow. Stages link together to form a promotion pipeline.
Promotion: A request to move a specific piece of Freight into a Stage, running the steps you define.
Where open source stops
Promotion runs one cluster at a time. Ten regions means ten pipelines to trigger and reconcile by hand.
Your approval trail is Git commit history. Auditors ask who approved what, when, and against which policy.
Scope ends at Kubernetes. Terraform, VMs, and serverless promote somewhere else, or not at all.
Nothing rolls back on its own. A failed rollout waits for whoever is awake.
